Mission: Getting started
Location: Starfleet academy
Timeline: Day 1

Having arrived at the station that was called New Haven and then briefly taken the Shuttle down to New Haven Colony, James Icheka had left betazed back in the Alpha quadrant to attend the new Starfleet Academy out here in the Gamma Quadrant, he was dressed in brown slacks and a colourful Hawaiian shirt and had stood for a moment taking in the smells of the planet that he would be calling home for the next 4 years as he looked up at the purple sky and thought to himself oO Well, James here you are, get ready for some tough times ahead, Oo as he started to walk towards the gleaming structure that was ahead of him that had not long opened its doors.

As he continued on his way to the Academy that had been named Mystic Academy, he still hadn’t worked out why it had been named with that Moniker, however; he would find out sooner or later as the cool breeze blew through his hair whilst he continued on his journey to the front of the building as he knew that some of the course would be a couple of missions onboard one of the two starships that were assigned to the Academy, He hoped that it would be the one that was named after The USS Enterprise-D most famous Captain. Jean Luc Picard.

Now finding himself outside the doors of the Academy building, James looked at the front doors knowing that once he walked through those doors his life would become a hell of a lot more complicated than it was all ready, as he stepped forward and broke the doors sensors and walked up to the reception desk and said, “ Hi, I’m James Icheka,” he continued, “ I am here for the Medical course,”

As the receptionist looked up from the screen and responded in her soft voice “Ah, welcome to Starfleet Academy Mister Icheka,” as she tapped in her terminal, she said,” Ah yes Mr Icheka, you are in Building 2A, on the fourth floor in Room 240,” as she handed him a PADD, she finished,” there is also a Map to help you find it,”

As James took the PADD from the receptionist, He responded,” Thank you, Ma’am,” as he wondered about his uniform, as he moved away from the desk, James took his first look at the PADD and found that he had to go to see the Quartermaster for his uniform, which as luck would have it was down the corridor from the desk.

Within a couple of minutes, James found himself outside an office, he thought to himself oO well, I have my Dorm number now the uniform, Oo as he pressed the door chime and waited to be called into the room. Whilst he waited, James knew that if he became impatient it would not be good for him, just then he heard “Come,”

Upon entering the Quartermaster’s Office, James met a Tall slender blonde-haired woman behind the desk. She said, “Hello sweetie, What can I do for you?” as she gave him a smile as she glanced up from her terminal, she thought to herself oO boy, is he cute, Oo as she began to size him up She guessed that he was new at the Academy and a first-year and also knew that it was out of bounds to fraternize with the first years, but what was a bit of flirting going to do. As long as no one found out about it.

Upon picking up the sexual emotions coming from the woman before him, James felt slightly bashful that someone would feel that way about him, but also conflicted as well. James knew also that it might get the woman in trouble if he responded to it. James responded, “ I’m here to pick up my Uniform,”

“Ah, I’m Petty Officer Samantha Dupree the Academy Quartermaster,” she said, formally picking up the tape measure that sat on the desk as she liked to do it the old fashioned way and not by the computer as she walked closer to him so that he could smell her perfume. As she started to measure him she asked,” What made you want to join Starfleet?”

“First off I had finished Medical school and had taken two years off,” replied James as Sam continued her work, he continued “and secondly I wanted to not be stuck on Betazed and thirdly My Mother had an arranged marriage for me,” as he felt that he was being pressured into it, as he was struggling to tune out others thoughts and emotions and had not been trained that much to screen them out.

Sam replied, “ So basically you are running away from your bride to be then?” as she looked up at him as she made some notes on a PADD, She said,” What if she comes looking for you?” asking the question that was on her mind. She finished “she could end up getting into trouble, or she could be used to get to you and your ship?”

“I’m not running away from her,” replied James looking back at her,” The bond we have is weakening that’s all,” as he had not had the talk about bonding with his mother as every time he mentioned it she would just change the subject, he continued,” she just lives on Batazed on another part of the planet,”

Sam finished her measuring and walked back to her terminal and tapped in some commands, she said,” Your Uniform will now be collected from your replicator in your Dorm,” as she put the code onto the PADD and handed the PADD back to him. She stated “If that was me, I would be very unhappy with my betrothed and I would not make him forget it,”

oO I just hope that she does not follow me, Oo he thought to himself as he replied “Thanks for everything Ma’am,” Giving her a nod of his head as he made his way out of the quartermaster’s office and head towards the blue houses to find which one that he was assigned to.
