Mission: Shakedown
Location: Starbase New Haven
Timeline: MD000 01400 hours

EJ was getting ready, the proudest day of his life. Finally seeing his son ascend the pedestal and become a captain. Not shaved but the hair did, command uniform on and boots done up to hilt. Glasses pushed up his nose, ready to bring his son into the most prestigious group of men. And to also Unveil his brand new ship the USS Siren-A, a brand new defiant class. It was almost time, but he would wait in the wings of the main auditorium for the rest of the crew to arrive and for his son.

Rian was nervous more nervous than he had been when he had been given the Oberth class, now he had a new rank to try and live up to. Dressed in his best dress uniform, hair pulled back and eyes gleaming. Was he ready for this? he didn't know but one thing is for sure he was excited. Leaving his temporary quarters on starbase new haven he pressed his comm "Crew of The Siren Main Arbetorium" he said walking around the corner "Lieutenant Commander Stevens meet me before" He said walking around the corner.

Having to wear his command dress whites with his new rank that of Lieutenant Commander, Simon looked in the mirror and did a double-take at the third darkened Pip on his collar. he still could not believe that he had achieved this rank so quickly as he heard his combadge chirp. He tapped his combadge and said, =/\= AyeSir, On my way Stevens out,=/\= as he wondered what could be the problem as he exited his quarters.

Rian walked around the corner, as soon as he saw Simon he waved, walking over to his first officer. He looked a little nervous but then again anybody would naturally feel like this "Sorry for the communica I just wanted to ask you if you felt up to standing up on the stage with me last minutes nerves biting at me and I feel like I need some support" He said with a brief smile, he and stevens had gotten close in there time on the Oberth class siren and now Rian valued him above a lot of others, he had proved himself worthy of rians trust and loyalty and that wouldn't change any time soon.

"Sure, I'll come up on stage with you Rian just as long as no surprises are waiting for me," He joked looking at the young officer who had given him the chance at command track when he had least expected it, as he had been trained as an Operations officer and had stepped up when the stores crisis had happened on the Siren. as he remembered back to the fiasco and how the officer concerned that had caused the mess in the first place had got his comeuppance.

Rian looked to Simon "thank you Simon I don't think I could have done this without you" he said walking "if there are I assure they are not of my doing my father is the worst of the O'Donnghues for pranks and secrets so if there are any you will have to take it up with the newly commissioned commodore" he said clasping Simon on the shoulder "You ready?" he said with a brief inducement smile "Cause I'm bloody not" he said with a little laugh.

"Of course I'm ready to see you squirm," responded Simon smiling at his newly promoted Captain, he continued, "Just to let you know the Klingon sector commander and his party are here," as he knew that the Klingons were going to be based all over the sector.

Rian laughed "Anyone would think my dad is the worst person imaginable fact of that matter is he is the loveliest man alive until you fuck with his kids then its game on and anything and everything in his path will be decimated," he said laughing "dads a scary guy but the loveliest scary guy you'll ever meet," he said as his face dropped "What? the Klingons are here? Hell in a handbasket" rian said as he clammed up "Of all freaking days" he said walking faster now.

"Yes, they are along with Sector commander Stewart and his family," replied Simon looking back at Rian as he said, "as well as 1 Chelsa Meran, by the way, do you know who she is?" he walked beside his captain.

Rian Sighed "Well I hope when we get to Avalon station I can avoid that at all costs last time I saw the Stewarts I almost ended up in a fight with a female Klingon needless to say I accidentally spilt bloodwyne but that's a story for another time," he said returning his eyes in front of him.

Kyss walked into the auditorium as nervous as an Andorian could get. Being the second officer was a big responsibility after all. And he felt well enough prepared for the task, It was only that the fact his fathers being an admiral was nagging at him. He mumbled under his breath. "Dad keeping me in the dark about the siren. Must be nice being ad admiral." he thought as he walked in, absentmindedly tugging at the collar of his Command whites

"So What was her name?" asked Simon asking the question as he wanted to be sure that the three Klingon women in the party were not the ones in question, but for Simon, he knew things could be pear-shaped at any moment.

Rian looked unbothered "Jessica or something along those lines you ask me the beer got to me and I forgot" he said with somewhat of a laugh "Its not really that important at this moment I'm kinda sat here shitting my self about being promoted let alone having to deal with klingons one battle at a time stevens" he said with a little smirk.

"Hate to tell you this Rian, but she is here," replied Simon as he looked back at his boss, he continued, "all I can say is have fun," as he grinned like a Cheshire cat.

The Auditorium was filling with people and Rian still wasn't there, but EJ Had hope his son would arrive just in time to see his best friend of 20 years arrive just on cue "Come on Rian" EJ muttered under his breath as tapped his foot in nervous excitement.

Rian began walking to the auditorium, he did not want to be late for this his father wouldn't let him live it down, starbase new haven was pretty big but he had grown accustomed to it over the last couple of months, waiting for Simon to fall in behind him, as he walked up the back stairs to wait for his father to introduce him and for the cheer and clapping to start.

As Simon fell in behind Rian, this felt like a scene from an old 21st-century film with two factions fighting over the years but he for the life of him remember the name of it as he waited for the ceremony to begin. he leaned in and said quietly to Rian "Relax, it's only your father,"

Rian stepped up seeing his fathers greying hair and new commodore pips, he smiled as he waited for his father to go out on stage and welcome him in.

EJ turned round winked at his son and walked out on the stage, slowly at first so that he was right by the mic "Ladies and Gentleman Thank you for being gathered here today" He said clearing his throat "To say the least this day like all others I have dreamt of, like all starfleet captains with children you hope one day they take after you" he said cleaning his throat once more as the small tears in his eyes started to form "My Son Rian O'Donnaghue was no stranger to my reputation, no stranger to the vlaues i up held during my time in the dominion war" Ej said as he wiped an eye with his handkerchief "Rian joined Starfleet with the same values I upheld at his age now to boldly go where no one has gone before" he said smiling "To say I'm a proud father is an understaemnt he has shown he has the metal,grit and drive to accomplish anything" EJ Said looking to the side of him now "I would like to welcome to the stage My Son, My Heir and My best friend" He said seeing rians brown hair hit the light as he entered the stage.

Rian stepped out from behind the curtain to a roar of thunderous applause, in the centre of the throng he saw two blue antane attached a mop of grey hair "Kyss" he muttered under his breath, his best friend, his brother today could not have gone as well without him. Rian took his space next to his father as he looked at him, the two men so alike in parlour and hair it was almost like looking in a mirror.

"Rian O'Donnaghue my Boy what a proud day today is" EJ said holding his arm around his son, looking to simon "Hes going to be so embarrassed" He said with a little snort "Today i welcome you into the ranks of the Captains of STarfleet" He said clicking a button on the stand, pictures started rolling over the canvas at the back pictures of Rians first day at the academy, pictures of his first steps, his first time as a 5 year old touching a helm console and the best for last Rian as a baby in the arms of his andoian god father Shras "Ladies and gentleman as you can see even from a young age my boy knew he was bound for the stars and on this day I look into his eyes and see the stars that five year old wanted to see so badly" EJ said as he produced a moon stone embessled trinket box, inside were the brand new pips, captains pips none the less "Rian O'Donnaghue in thanks of service to starfleet and the gamma quadrent it is my greatest honour to pronounce you once and forever more as Captain Rian O'Donnaghue of The USS Siren-A Soverign Class" Ej said as the canvas evaporated and a window to the vastness of space could be seen, in plain view and brand new commissioned Soverign class ship gleaming back. The crowd roared and screamed, clapping and crying as they saw the crowning of a prince into his father's kingdom.

Rian was taken aback by the claps, his father words, the pictures and seeing KYss it all hit him like a freight train "Thank you commodore" was the only words the man could utter as his, father unclasped the commander pips and replaced them with the fresh and new captains pips! when the canvas disappeared and he saw his new ship his heart skipped a beat "She's marvellous" He said walking over to the window "Like an eagle taking its first flight" He said with tears rolling down his face.

Ej laughed a little same laugh he made when this tiny little brown-haired part Vulcan came screaming into this world "But the fun doesn't stop there" he said gesturing to Simon "Rians first officer Lieutenant Commander Simon Stevens the man who captained the siren into her final battle, who has stood at my son's side since he took command" EJ said motioning for the man to step up "Its rather unconventional to say the least but it is my honour to hand the Medal of Honour in service of Starfleet and the gamma quadrant" he said with a wide smile "Oh and to my Godson who is in the middle of that throng of people congratulations on making the Second officer on the siren and completing your command and advanced operations training me and your father are so beyond proud of you so if you will Kyss come and join me and the others on stage" Like Rian said his father was full of surprises and this last one was he and shares had been working on for months.

Simon stood there shocked and stammered "Thank you, Sir," as he stepped up in front of Rian's Father to receive his award and the medal of honour to boot, he thought to himself oO Wow, I have impressed him somewhat? Oo as he knew that Rian must have known about this, and boy was he going to get it one day as he knew he had to prank Rian somehow.

Kyss was stuck in memory lane so much that he didn't even notice that his name was called at first. After all, he did remember some of those pictures. "Well played, Dad," he muttered to himself as he headed up to the others. He was slightly embarrassed. I mean who wouldn't be. He was just singled out by his adopted uncle after all. Eventually, he made it up there, having negotiated the crowd. "Thank you, sir," he said as he fell in beside the commodore. A glance at Rians face revealed the same surprise that Kyss had.

EJ put his arms around all three boys "Now for a little bit of a closing speech" EJ Said looking at all three on stage with him "HAving just come back to Starfleet myself after years in retirement" he said clearing his throat "I have watched these three officers go from strength to strength and I couldn't be prouder of all of them" he said with a smile "So let us give the captain, first officer and second officer of the siren a huge applause for there service to Starfleet and mystic knights" EJ unclasped all three boys and without hesitation clapped and the entire auditorium clapped back.

Rian was still in shock, seeing KYss broke his focus for two seconds, brothers together, at last, holding out his fist for the other to bump "Long time brother" he said with a wide smile, as his eyes returned to the mass of people clapping, cheering and screaming.

"Good to see you too. Definitely been a little bit." Kyss replied, grinning as well. He returned the first bump. 'Wouldnt miss it"

Rian looked to Kyss "Admirals Eh can't live with 'em can't live without em" he said wrapping kyss in a side hug "Now I think us three have a ship awaiting us in dry dock" he said looking to his father who gave him the go-ahead "Siren We have three to Beam" He said with a wide smile.

EJ looked to the crowd "Now ladies and gentleman that concludes today's festivities if you could leave the moratorium using the exit now would be a good time" He said looking as everyone started filling out "Actually Siren Make that Four" he said looking to rian as he did so "What you didn't think I wasn't going to go on your shakedown cruise with you? its O'Donnaghue tradition boy" he said with a wink as they all awaited the sirens transport chef to beam them over.
